About the Project

A consortium of public and private sector health care experts and employers is working to show that strategic changes to employee health care benefits can make a positive difference in the health of employees.

The pilot project, funded through a grant from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), brings San Antonio and Austin area employers together to assess the impact of key health care benefits aimed at preventing or reducing the risk for heart attack and stroke in employees.

The project seeks to reduce the risk of heart attack and strokes by addressing key chronic conditions, including high blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, obesity, diabetes and smoking within the employee population.
